Hello ! Welcome on this blog to inform to you the history of Ellis Island.
The Ellis Island is an island in Upper New-York Bay. It's a symbolic place.
It was the gateway for millions of immigrants to the US as the nation's busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until 1954.
Between 1892 and 1924, 12 millions of immigrants arrived.
They came from 10 000s villages, cities and ghettos.
So it was the site of the largest human migration in the history of the world.
The Island was made part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument in 1965, and had hosted a museum of immigration since 1990.
